Dana awarded offshore Cameroon permit

ABERDEEN, UK – Dana Petroleum has been appointed operator of the Bakassi West PSC offshore southwest Cameroon. The company will work with partners Madison Cameroon Oil and Gas and SoftRock Oil and Gas.

Bakassi West covers nearly 390 sq km (150 sq mi) in the Rio Del Rey basin, adjoining the border of Nigeria on the southern margin of the Niger Delta.

The initial exploration work program, incurring an estimated investment of $31 million, will last four years. Dana plans to acquire, process, and interpret 250 km (155 mi) of 2D seismic data, and drill up to two exploration wells.

Depending on the results obtained during the first period, the program could be extended to two further periods, involving acquisition and processing of 100 km (62 mi) of 2D seismic and drilling of at least one exploration well per period. Minimum investment for all three periods over eight years is $71 million.
