BP keeps Byford Dolphin rig in North Sea

Dolphin Drilling has entered into a three-year contract with BP for use of the semisubmersible Byford Dolphin in the UK North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Dolphin Drilling has entered into a three-year contract with BP for use of the semisubmersible Byford Dolphin in the UK North Sea.

The new contract will start in direct continuation of a current program, and has an estimated value of $378 million. There is an option for a further three-year extension.

Early in 2014 the rig will undergo an early class renewal survey, including installation of a new five-ram BOP.
