ABERDEEN, UK – Awilco Drilling has suspended drilling operations on the Timon exploration well in the UK northern North Sea. This is due to technical downtime caused by equipment failure. The delay is expected to last for 18 days.

Wilhunter, the semisubmersible drilling the well for operator MPX North Sea, should resume operations in early June.

Elsewhere in the sector, Awilco and Endeavour Energy UK have agreed to terminate the rig’s contract for drilling the East and West Rochelle development wells. Instead, the rig will now work forSuncor Energy in direct continuation from the contract with Ithaca.

Next year, the rig is scheduled to serve Hess’ well abandonment program in the UK central North Sea, under a 400-day contract valued at $114 million.
