LONDONBorders & Southern has spudded its second well south of the Falkland Islands.

Well 61/25-1 targets the Stebbing prospect, 170 km (105 mi) south of the islands, in license PL018. Stebbing is a thrust cored anticline structure with an area of closure of 85 sq km (33 sq mi).

The objectives are Tertiary and Upper Cretaceous sandstone reservoirs. Drilling should last 49 days, although geological issues may cause a variation.

The company’s previous wellproved gas condensate in the Darwin structure. Fluid samples from Darwin are on their way to the UK for analysis, with results due to be released this summer.
