NEW DELHI, India – ONGC’s board has approved development of the Western Periphery area of the Mumbai High South field (Phase-III redevelopment).

The project, due to be completed by December 2014, should lead to incremental production of 1.031 MMt of oil and 213.8 MMcm (7.55 bcf) of gas by March 2030.

It involves installing one 12-slot, four-leg unmanned platform, drilling of 10 wells, associated modifications, and pipelines for well fluid, gas lift and water injection.

ONGC says Phase-I of the redevelopment project, completed in 2007, initially arrested the field’s decline and then increased production to 173,000 b/d.

The Phase-II program, nearing completion, should improve oil recovery to 34.5% by March 2030.

ONGC has also discovered oil and gas with well C-39#14 in the BOFF-1,2,3 PEL concession in India’s Western Offshore basin. The location is around 70 km (43 mi) northwest of the Daman landfall, and 25 km (15.5 mi) northwest of well C-39-1.

It tested oil at 294 b/d and gas at 94,900 cm/d (3.3 MMcf/d) from various intervals in the Mahuva formation.
