Medoilgas gains extra time to evaluate Ombrina Mare

Medoilgas Italia has won a three-year extension until May 2015 for an exploration permit offshore eastern Italy.

ROME – Medoilgas Italia has won a three-year extension until May 2015 for an exploration permit offshore eastern Italy.

The Italian Ministry for Economic Development issued the extension for the BR269 GC in the central Adriatic Sea, which contains theOmbrina Mare oil and gas field.

Bill Higgs, chief executive of parent company Mediterranean Oil & Gas, said: “We are pleased that this license extension has been granted, and we see this as a positive sign in our on-going discussions with the Italian authorities regarding the issuance of a production concession for our proposed development of the Ombrina Mare field.”
