CB&I awarded deepwater Aasta Hansteen spar topsides FEED study

Statoil (OSE:STL:NYSE:STO) has contracted CB&I to provide front-end engineering design (FEED) services for the Aasta Hansteen spar topsides project in the Norwegian Sea.

HOUSTON – Statoil (OSE:STL:NYSE:STO) has contracted CB&I to provide front-end engineering design (FEED) services for the Aasta Hansteen spar topsides project in the Norwegian Sea.

The platform,one of the world’s largest spars, will process hydrocarbons from the field in the Vøring area, in a water depth of 1,300 m (4,265 ft). It will be connected to subsea templates.

Processing facilities on the topsides will include conventional gas dehydration and dew-pointing with condensate stabilization through heating and separation, designed for daily production rates of 23 MMcm/d (812 MMcf/d) of gas.

CB&I will execute FEED from its office in The Hague in the Netherlands. Its scope, due to be completed by end-2012, includes units for processing, utilities,the 108-bed living quarters and the flare, with a total dry weight of around 21,500 metric tons (23,700 tons).
