Brazil FPSO gas generator order for Wärtsilä Hamworthy

Engevix Construções Oceânicas has commissioned Wärtsilä Hamworthy to supply inert gas generators (IGGs) for eight FPSOs under construction in Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil.

MOSS, Norway – Engevix Construções Oceânicas has commissioned Wärtsilä Hamworthy to supply inert gas generators (IGGs) for eight FPSOs under construction in Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil.

The first two IGGs will undergo full scale testing at Wärtsilä Hamworthy’s factory in Moss prior to delivery, with the final units set for delivery by end-January 2015.

Each will be of the dual fuel type, measuring 7.5 x 6 x 7.5 m (24.6 x 19.7 x 24.6 ft) and weighing roughly 45 tons (41 metric tons). All will be installed on the utility module on the FPSO inside a dedicated compartment.

The eight skids will be delivered with a control system, a diesel and gas fuel system, and power distribution including VSD starters. Each skid will include two 100% systems providing required redundancy.

Petrobras plans to deploy six of the floaters on itsTupi area development and the other two on the Guará field, all in the Santos basin.

Recently, Wärtsilä Hamworthy won a contract to supplyflare gas recovery packages to four FPSOs for the same presalt fields.
