Aker gets Grieg platform EPC work

Kvaerner ASA plans to subcontract work to Aker Solutions for the engineering, procurement, and construction of topsides for the Edvard Grieg (former Luno) platform operated by Lundin in the North Sea.

LYSAKER, Norway –Kvaerner ASAplansto subcontract work to Aker Solutions for the engineering, procurement, and construction of topsides for the Edvard Grieg (former Luno) platform operated by Lundin in the North Sea.

Fabrication and assembly of the 4,500 metric ton (4,960 ton) process module will be conducted by Aker Solutions' yard in Egersund. Detail engineering will begin immediately with fabrication is expected to start in 2013.

First production is expected in late 2015, with a forecast gross peak production of approximately 90,000 b/d of oil. The oil will be processed and transported in a new pipeline to the Grane area and further via the Grane oil pipeline to the Sture terminal for sale.

Lundin Norway AS is the operator with a 50% working interest. Wintershall and RWE Dea hold a 30% and a 20%, respectively.
