HAMILTON, Bermuda –Seadrill has exercised an option to build a new tender rig at the COSCO Nantong shipyard in China.
The new T18 rig should be delivered late in 2013, with a total estimated project cost of $135 million.
T18 will be similar to the three tender rigs Seadrill ordered from COSCO last year. The design is said to facilitate higher drilling efficiency, due partly to the lightweight drilling equipment set.
