PSA authorizes Ekofisk, Rev production drilling campaigns

Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has approved two production drilling programs in the North Sea.

STAVANGER, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has approved two production drilling programs in the North Sea.

ConocoPhillips Skandinavia has clearance to use the jackupMærsk Innovator to drill eight subsea water injector wells on the Ekofisk field. Drilling could start in June, and should take around two years to complete.

The aim is to maintaining formation pressure in the southern part of the field. The templates for the wells will be 1 km (0.6 mi) east of the Ekofisk 2/4A platform, in a water depth of 73 m (239 ft).

Talisman Energy Norge has consent to use the jackupRowan Stavangerfor production drilling on the Rev field in production license 038C, in a water depth of 87 m (285 ft). Drilling should start by mid-May, and last around 70 days.
