LONDON –Premier Oil’sBiawak Besar-1x exploration well offshore Indonesia will be P&A’d after encountering only water-wet sands in the Miocene target.

The well was drilled on Natuna Sea block, reaching a TD of 5,950 ft (1,813 m).

Results will be incorporated into an existing 3D seismic database to determine the cause of the seismic amplitude response that triggered this well, and its implications forfuture prospectivity in the targeted play.

In the UK central North Sea, Premier says it is looking to extend the boundaries of proven play types. Its latest effort - the Stingray exploration well in block 15/13b - spudded on April 9, and theSedco 711 will start drilling the company’s Carnaby prospect early next month in block 28/9, followed by the Coaster prospect on neighboring block 28/10a.
