Petrobras confirms Iara presalt deepwater extension well success

RIO DE JANEIRO – Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. ( Petrobras) has completed drilling the successful extension well 3-BRSA-1032-RJS (3-RJS-697) in the Iara area of the presalt Santos basin offshore Brazil.

The Ira Oeste well reached TD of 6,050 m (19,849 ft) in 2,150 m (7,054 ft) water depth and found oil samples in the 21º to 26º API range in carbonate reservoirs at 5,430 m (17,815 ft) drilling depth.

Petrobras is the operator of the consortium (65%), in partnership with BG Group (25%) and Galp Energia (10%).
