Mechanical issues halt Cote d’Ivoire well

Rialto Energy says the drill pipe in its Gazelle-P3 well off Cote d’Ivoire has become stuck after drilling reached a depth of 1,070 m (3,510 ft).

WEST PERTH, Australia –Rialto Energy says the drill pipe in its Gazelle-P3 well off Cote d’Ivoire has become stuck after drilling reached a depth of 1,070 m (3,510 ft).

The jackupTransocean GSF Monitor is drilling the well on block CI-202.

In the process of trying to free the pipe, mechanical problems occurred with the rig equipment. Transocean estimates repairs to the rig and subsequent operations to remedy the stuck pipe will take two weeks, after which drilling can resume.
