GURSKOEY, Norway – Kongsberg Evotec will supply its new ROV Launch and Recovery System (E-LARS) to a new Forland Shipping subsea vessel under construction at Havyard Leirvik, Norway.

The vessel is 110 m (361 ft) long, 22 m (72 ft) wide, and due for delivery in 2013.

Konsgberg’s consignment comprises both an ‘overboard’ system and a moonpool system. It is designed to handle work class ROVs with or without a tether management system to water depths below 4,000 m (13,123 ft).

E-LARS was designed in cooperation with end users, umbilical manufacturers and ship designers, with a focus on improved personnel safety and ROV uptime, simplified system maintenance and extended service intervals.

Features include the use of Permanent Magnet Motor (PM) technology and a control system that provided real-time information about capacity, umbilical status and history. E-LARS also features Kongsberg Evotec-developed active heave compensation which operates on minimal power consumption.
