Aker wins further subsea package for North Sea Svalin project

Subsea 7 (Oslo Børs:SUBC) has contracted Aker Subsea (Oslo Børs:AKSO) to design and fabricate a control umbilical for Statoil’s Svalin C project in the Norwegian North Sea.

FORNEBU, Norway –Subsea 7 (Oslo Børs:SUBC) has contracted Aker Subsea (Oslo Børs:AKSO) to design and fabricate a control umbilical for Statoil’s Svalin C project in the Norwegian North Sea.

The scope takes in a 6-km (3.7-mi) long control umbilical, connectors, engineering, and project management. It is due to be delivered in spring 2013.

Management, engineering, and procurement of the umbilical will be performed at Aker Solutions’ headquarters in Fornebu, Norway, while manufacturing will take place in Moss.

Svalin is a fasttrack oil field development, around 8 km (5 mi) southwest ofStatoil’s Grane field and 185 km (115 mi) west of Haugesund. Water depth is roughly 120 m (394 ft).

In December, Statoil contracted Aker Solutions for engineering, procurement, and construction ofSvalin’s subsea production system.
