Offshore staff
KASSEL, Germany – Wintershall plans to invest up to $2.6 billion in exploration and field development offshore Norway and the UK by 2015.
The company wants to raise its daily production on the Norwegian and UK continental shelves from around 4,000 boe/d currently to 50,000 boe/d.
Much of that increase will come from the Knarr and Luno field developments in the Norwegian North Sea, where the company is a partner, and from the eventual development of the 60-120 MMbbl Maria field in the Norwegian Sea where Wintershall is operator.
Last October, the company started up its first operated gas production platform in the UK southern North Sea on the Wingate field. It aims to double the current production rate to 3 MMcm/d (106 MMcf/d) of gas by drilling a second well.
In the western part of the Danish North Sea, Wintershall plans to drill an exploration well this year as a follow-up to the 2009 Ravn-3 well, which proved hydrocarbons at a subsurface depth of 4,469 m (14,662 ft).
The company also operates the A6-A platform, the only offshore gas production facility in the German North Sea. Here too it aims to develop further reserves via a new well.
At the offshore/onshore Mittelplate field, close to the Baltic Sea, Wintershall and RWE Dea each hold a 50% interest. During 2011 the partners drilled the first wells in Bockstedt, Lower Saxony as part of our biopolymer project to increase the yield from the reservoirs.
Off the coast of Tierra del Fuego, southern Argentina, Wintershall is a partner to Total in the Carina and Aries gas field developments.
The consortium aims to produce 56 bcm of gas, 3.4 MM tons of condensate and 2.4 MM tons (1.98 bcf) of LPG from the two fields by 2027.
