ADELAIDE, Australia – Santos has found more gas in the Sangu area off Bangladesh.

The Sangu-11 well, drilled by Seadrill’s jackupOffshore Resolute, penetrated a new gas reservoir with around 20 m (65.6 ft) of good quality gas pay. Currently the company is assessing volumes and flow potential.

Santos plans to complete and tie the well into the Sangu facilities, providing incremental supplies to the city of Chittagong over the next few months once marketing terms are settled.

Sangu-11 was the third of a three-well campaign in the block 16 PSC that started last September 2011. The first well, South Sangu-4, encountered gas in one target but also anomalously high formation pressure, and therefore had to be abandoned before reaching its primary objective.

The second well, NE Sangu-1, drilled in December, failed to deliver commercial hydrocarbons. It too was abandoned.
