Technip to devise Luva deepwater North Sea spar requirements

Statoil has awarded Technip a lump sum front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the proposed Luva field spar platform in the Norwegian Sea.

PARIS – Statoil has awarded Technip a lump sum front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the proposed Luva field spar platform in the Norwegian Sea. Water depth is around 1,300 m (4,265 ft).

The contract scope includes design and planning for procurement, construction and transportation of a spar hull and mooring systems, and design of steel catenary risers.Studies and pre-FEED have been in progress since early 2010 to assess the suitability of a spar platform in Norwegian waters.

Technip’s operating center in Houston will perform the contract, with assistance from the company’s branches in Norway and Finland.
