Subsea 7 wins North Sea Cheviot SURF

ATP Oil & Gas/Bluewater have awarded Subsea 7 a $175-million SURF contract for the Cheviot field development in the northern UK North Sea.

LUXEMBOURG – ATP Oil & Gas/Bluewater have awarded Subsea 7 a $175-million SURF contract for the Cheviot field development in the northern UK North Sea.

The location is 120 km (74 mi) east of Shetland.

Cheviot’s moored Octabuoy floating process platform will import oil and gas from four satellite drill centers, with the oil exported via shuttle tankers and gas sent to a third party host facility.

Subsea 7’s scope includestransportation and installation of client-provided flexible flowlines and risers, control umbilicals, the 4.2-km (2.6-mi) 14-in. (36-cm) flexible oil export pipeline and the 48-km (30-mi) 10-in. (25-cm) rigid gas pipeline.

It will also fabricate and install associated subsea structures, and perform trenching of subsea lines, tie in of the lines to theOctabuoy and drilling centers, and testing and pre-commissioning for the entire field facilities.

Offshore operations should start in 2014.
