STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil has made a small oil discovery in the Crimp prospect in North Sea production license PL053 in the Oseberg Area Unit.
Well 30/6-28S was drilled by theCOSL Pioneer in 110 m (361 ft) of water. It proved a 12-m (39-ft) oil column in the Statfjord formation, with estimated volumes in the range of 12-18 MMboe.
“The oil discovery is located beneath the Oseberg field and is a good candidate to be connected to the Oseberg production facilities. These could be fast and high-value barrels for the partnership,” said Knut Henrik Dalland, VP Operations Oseberg.
Crimp was the secondary target - the primary target was the Crux, which had been viewed as a high impact gas opportunity underlying the Oseberg field, but here there were no hydrocarbons.
After completing the well, the rig will transfer to theGlitne field in the North Sea for production drilling.
