GALVESTON, Texas– Subsea Tieback exhibitor and sponsor SPT Group says its new application Rigsite Kick is setting a new standard for operational well control by using dynamic modeling at the rig.

The company says the application provides superior operational decision support for drilling crews. With Rigsite Kick the operational crew can produce consistent and realistic results to those provided by engineers in the planning phase. With unique visualizations of the simulations the understanding of the situation improves and leads to better handling of the challenges.

Rigsite Kick also provides an IADC “Kick sheet” as output. This saves valuable time for the rig crew, who traditionally have been requested to perform time-consuming pen and paper exercises to fill in necessary reports.

“We are proud to release a product which yields unprecedented operational support on the rig,” said Bjarte Håtveit, senior vice president Flow Simulators in SPT Group. “Rigsite Kick is of special value in today’s challenging deepwater and HP/HT wells.”

Håtveit also noted that “in such wells, the traditional approach may show no tolerance for drilling the well, while more realistic and accurate dynamic models may show that the well still can be drilled.”
