HOUSTON – Al-Khafji Joint Operations (KJO) has contracted McDermott International for new installations and refurbishment work on the Hout field offshore Saudi Arabia.

Under the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) program, McDermott will fabricate and install more than 600 metric tons (661 tons) of structures including a tripod jacket, deck and flare tower, and 42 km (26 mi) of 24-in. (61-cm) subsea pipeline.

The company expects to mobilize vessels for the installations during summer 2013.

McDermott’s brownfield division in Jebel Ali, UAE, will also perform modifications on various existing platforms on the Hout field, where the average water depth is 31 m (102 ft).

“McDermott has worked in the Al-Khafji field since the mid 1960s and we are currently executing the Ratawi Water Injection Project for KJO,” said Stephen M. Johnson, the company’s chairman and CEO.
