ROTTERDAM, the Netherlands – Nexen Petroleum UK has contracted Hertel’s offshore division to design, build, and modify living quarters for the Buzzard platform in the central North Sea.

Hertel completed design and outfitting for the original Buzzard living quarters in 2005 and last year delivered a front-end engineering design study for the new extension.

The scope of the new contract covers engineering, procurement, and construction of accommodation for an additional 60 people which will increase the on board capacity of the platform to 180.

Construction will be performed at one of Hertel’s facilities in Teesside, northeast England which is designed for fabrication of large offshore structures. The program will create around 40 jobs.
