POOLE, UK – Hyundai Heavy Industries has contracted Hamworthy to supply an ST8 series treatment plant for BP’s new Quad 204 FPSO.

BP’s vessel will be deployed west of the Shetland Isles in the UK North Atlantic as a replacement for theSchiehallion field FPSO.

The ST8, which handles around 12,000 liters/day (3,179 gal/day), has been modified to meet stricter sewage treatment operating standards under IMO MEPC 159(55) guidelines. These include more stringent rules concerning black water effluent quality treatment.

The pumps and macerators are made from 316 stainless steel and pipe work in super duplex stainless steel, according to NORSOK M-650 stipulations.

“The design uses Emerson instrumentation and programmable logic control where quality control, material, welding, and non-destructive examination standards were all in line with BP’s project requirements,” said Gary Mills, project manager, Hamworthy Water Systems.

Hamworthy is also supplyinginert gas generator packages for the same project. All equipment is due to be delivered later this year.
