EDINBURGH, UK – Melrose Resources has received tenders from 12 contractors for a seismic program in the Romanian sector of the Black Sea.

This involves acquiring 900 km (559 mi) of 2D data and 1,300 sq km (502 sq mi) of 3D over the Muridava and Est Cobalcescu blocks.

Melrose hopes to finalize an award by end-March, allowing the survey to be performed this summer.

In the Bulgarian offshore sector to the south, processing and interpretation is under way of new 3D seismic on the Galata block, and this should be completed by end-April. The resultant data will be used to update the block’s prospect and lead inventory and to draw up future drilling plans for the central area of the concession.

Offshore southern France, interpretation is nearing completion of a 2D seismic survey acquired in early 2010 over the Rhone Maritime concession. Melrose plans to meet with the operator, Noble Energy, in the next few weeks to review the results and discuss future work plans.
