WEST PERTH, Australia –Searcher Seismic Pty Ltd. is in the midst of two non-exclusive seismic surveys offshore Australia.

The newest of the two, Duvalia, is to cover 3,700 km (2,300 mi) of long-offset 2D seismic data in the Carnarvon basin over proposed areas 8 and 9 scheduled to be in the May 2012 Federal Acreage Release.

Proposed Area 8 has sparse existing coverage. The survey plans to run a 5 km (3.1 mi) by 10 km (6.2 mi) grid in water depths of less than 3,000 m.

The coverage of Proposed Area 9 looks to in-fill existing data to provide coverage of the same grid size as in Area 8.

The second survey, Mariner, will cover 3,100 km (1,926 mi) of long-offset 2D seismic and 9.700 km (6,027 mi) of Super-Tie reprocessing in the Browse basin of the proposed 02 and 03 blocks.

The project has acquired 1,600 km (994 mi) of the total data to date and uses a 5 km by 5 km grid.
