MONACO – SBM Offshore is to supply the turret and mooring system for the Ichthys LNG project FPSO off northwestern Australia. Ichthys FPSO will be a newbuild 335-m (1,100-ft) long vessel, stationed in 250 m (820 ft) of water in the Browse basin, 820 km (509 mi) south-west of Darwin.

The company also will provide assistance during integration of the turret into the floater and during installation on the field in mid-2015. The contract value is around $500 million.

The turret will have a diameter of 20 m, a height of 65 m (213 ft), and a weight of 7,000 tons. It will accommodate up to 15 risers and will be designed for 40 years of operation without the need for disconnection.

Ichthys LNG is a joint venture between operator INPEX and Total. Gas from the Ichthys field will be partly processed offshore to remove water and extract condensate. The gas will sent to an onshore process plant in Darwin via an 889-km (552-mi) subsea pipeline.
