MOSCOW – Rosneft has secured licenses for geological survey, exploration, and production of oil and gas at three blocks on the Russian Barents Sea shelf.

The blocks are Tsentralno-Barentsevsky, Fedynsky, and Perseevsky, all in the western Barents Sea adjoining the Norwegian sector. Russia and Norway recently reached agreement on delimiting their maritime border in this area.

Rosneft estimates total resources at the three blocks at 3.3 billion metric tons (3.64 billion tons) of crude oil and gas condensate and up to 2.8 tcm (98.88 tcf) of gas.

Its planned program includes acquisition studies for 11,000 line km (6,835 mi) of 2D seismic and 3.5 sq km (1.35 sq mi) of 3D seismic, and drilling of five wildcat wells.
