Lundin drills new target on Johan Sverdrup

The semisub Bredford Dolphin has started drilling appraisal well 16/2-11 for Lundin Petroleum in Norwegian North Sea license PL501.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – The semisub Bredford Dolphinhas started drilling appraisal well 16/2-11 for Lundin Petroleum in Norwegian North Sea license PL501.

Planned depth is roughly 2,175 m (7,136 ft) – drilling should take around 40 days.

The aim is to determine the thickness and quality of an oil-bearing Jurassic sequence at a location 2.2 km (1.4 mi) southeast from the Johan Sverdrup (ex-Avaldsnes) discovery well 16/2-8 in PL 628.
