Gujarat resumes exploration drilling offshore India

Gujarat State Petroleum Corp. has spudded the appraisal well DDE-A-2 offshore eastern India.

AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands – Gujarat State Petroleum Corp. has spudded the appraisal well DDE-A-2 offshore eastern India.

Aban Offshore’sDeep Driller-1 rig is drilling well DDE-A-2 in a water depth of 99 m (325 ft).

According to partner Jubilant, this is the third appraisal well in the Deen Dayal East area of the KG-OSN-2001/3 block. The target depth of the well is 5,300 m (17,388 ft) TVD, and the aim is to appraise the lower Cretaceous Early Rift fill sands shown to be hydrocarbon bearing by the KG-16 discovery well.

This is the 18th well drilled by the partners on the block. The previous 13 all flowed gas and condensates - of these, four were drilled onDeen Dayal West, three on Deen Dayal East (including two appraisals wells), two on Deen Dayal North, two in Deen Dayal North East-BRU, and two in Deen Dayal Downthrown.
