COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- DONG Energy and Bayerngas have committed to a DK 12.1 billion ($2.18 billion) development of the Hejre field in the Danish North Sea.
“Hejre will be the largest development in the Danish part of the North Sea for many years,” said DONG Energy CEO Anders Eldrup. “We expect that the development will create around 500 new permanent jobs and make a considerable contribution to Denmark’s continued position as self-sufficient in oil and gas.”
The project calls for construction of a production platform, drilling of production wells, and new pipelines to be tied into existing North Sea pipelines for onward transport to mainland Denmark
In addition, DONG will independently allocate DKK 2 billion ($360.5 million) for further development of the oil terminal in Fredericia to process oil from Hejre and other fields.
The company estimates the field’s reserves at 170 MMboe. Start-up is scheduled for late 2015.
