ISTANBUL, Turkey – NJSC Chornomornaftogaz’s pipelay barge GMC Pride has left the Hidrodinamik Shipyard in Tuzla, Istanbul, following a conversion program.
The vessel is preparing to start work on its first project in the northwestern sector of the Black Sea. This involves installing a pipeline from an existing platform to a newly built jacket structure on theOdessa gas field.
Conversion from a flat deck barge into a modern pipelay unit took eight months. Its design is based on GMC’s modular pipelay barge concept – all equipment is standardized in construction with “plug and play” electrical systems, allowing fast mobilization and demobilization.
GMC was responsible for engineering of the barge and pipelay system, supplying all equipment, and providing shipyard management for the barge conversion and commissioning.
NJSC Chornomornaftogaz will operate the vessel with GMC providing operational support.
