ConocoPhillips has contracted Wilton Engineering Services for the long term compression (LTC) module for the Britannia gas-condensate field in the UK central North Sea.

Britannia, co-operated by ConocoPhillips and Chevron, is 130 mi (210 km) northeast of Aberdeen. The original main platform was built at Wilton Group’s Port Clarence facility, northeast England, in 1995.

Wilton will fabricate the 2,200-metric ton (2,425-ton) LTC module for delivery in March 2013. It will measure 30 m (98 ft) long, 29 m (95 ft) high and 18 m (59 ft) wide, and will accommodate one of the North Sea’s largest compressors, the company says.

The equipment is designed to extend the life of the Britannia field and enhance production from existing wells.

Elsewhere, the Wilton Group recently launched a new operation in Brazil that has already secured rig upgrade contracts from one drilling contractor.
