CALGARY, Canada – Talisman Energy’s expects to allocate $1.2 billion for its North Sea projects in 2012, similar to last year’s level.

Two-thirds will be directed at the UK sector, where the company’s main ongoing projects are the Monarb and Auk South field redevelopments.

Talisman also plans to continue upgrades to the Claymore platform to increase operating efficiency and to drill development wells at Tweedsmuir and Clyde.

Offshore Norway the company will participate in or operate infill wells at the Brage, Veslefrikk, Gyda, and Rev fields.

It anticipates average production from its North Sea fields this year of 95,000 - 110,000 boe/d. The timing of the long-delayed Yme project coming onstream in the Norwegian sector will have a major impact within this range.

Talisman adds that it will continue to invest in this business to ensure the integrity of its installations and sustain the cash flow generated. But it will also seek to reduce its exposure to what it terms “this mature and relatively volatile business” over time.

This year the company plans to drill six exploration wells off the UK and Norway.

In the Asia-Pacific region, Talisman sanctioned the HST/HSD development late last year offshore Vietnam, with first production expected in 2013. This year it expects to start exploration drilling in the Nam Con Son basin.

It also plans to maintain its infill drilling program at PM-3, offshore Malaysia/Vietnam.
