OSLO, Norway – Statoil has taken up a further two-year option on a diving services contract with Technip Norge. According to Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway, ExxonMobil and Gassco may also participate in the contract.

Manned underwater operations will be conducted from the DSVs Skandi Arctic and Wellservicer, and from the light diving vessel LDC Technip Sea Hunter.

PSA has issued consent for manned operations down to water depths of 180 m (590 ft), comprising defined and not defined operational and project tasks and repair standby.

Statoil expects to perform the defined tasks on the Glitne field in the North Sea this spring, related to connection of subsea wells to the FPSO Petrojarl 1. The water depth at the location is 110 m (361 ft), and the program should last for five days.

Norwegian trunklines operator Gassco may also require repair work on some of its lines.

The consent also takes in not defined operational and project assignments, which could include pipelines on a foreign shelf covered by Norwegian jurisdiction, and any surface-supplied diving operations which may be necessary during the period.
