BILLINGHAM, UK – Saipem has contracted TAG Energy Solutions to manufacture four foundation piles to support a jacket for use in Total’s Elgin B oil and gas field in the UK North Sea.

The piles will be constructed at the company’s new 6,920-sq m (74,886-sq ft) production facility in northeast England, and will measure 2.5 m (8.2 ft) in diameter and 90-101 m (295-331 ft) in length.

TAG’s riverside facility includes a fully-automated system that rolls and welds large diameter tubulars used in the production of offshore structures.

It also has been developed to construct jackets, transition pieces and topside structures, for transportation from the extensive wet dock and 6,000-metric ton (6,614-ton) load-out quay.
