HOUSTON – Woodside Energy has contracted FMC Technologies for subsea production systems for the Greater Western Flank (GWF) Phase 1 development off Western Australia. The contract value is around $150 million.

GWF Phase 1 will develop the Goodwyn GH and Tidepole fields, and represents the next major phase of the North West Shelf Project.

Both fields are in water depths of 230-425 ft (70-130 m). FMC’s scope of supply includes six subsea production trees, six wellheads, two manifolds, subsea and topside controls, and flowline connection systems. Deliveries should start in the second half of this year and continue through 2013.

Earlier this month, FMC announced it would exercise a purchase option for the remaining 55% of outstanding shares in ROV specialist Schilling Robotics, a transaction expected to close around March 30. FMC acquired its existing 45% interest in Schilling and obtained the purchase option in 2008.

Over the past three years the two companies have collaborated on a variety of projects and technology developments, including a control system for Petrobras’ Congro/Corvina project that will use subsea robotics technology to operate the manifold and separation station valves.
