ROTTERDAM, the Netherlands – Saipem has awarded Fairstar Heavy Transport two contracts to provide marine transportation services for Nexen’s Golden Eagle Project in the UK central North Sea.

The first voyage, involving the open-stern semisubmersible transportation vessel Finesse, should take place early next year. The second, involving the Fjord, is scheduled for early 2014. Total contract value is $15.8 million.

Fairstar says it now has contracted revenues totalling $190 million for its fleet of four vessels, Fjord, Finesse, Fjell and Forte. The shipments are for the Gorgon project off Western Australia (three vessels), Total’s CLOV off Angola (one vessel), Northern Offshore (one vessel), Hercules (one vessel), and now Golden Eagle.

Fjord has just arrived in Angola to load the CLOV FPSO components for DSME. After discharging items in Okpo, South Korea, Fjord will be on contract for Gorgon, with Forte to follow in July.

Fjell is currently sailing to Rotterdam with the Northern Offshore rig Energy Exeter, and will then take the drilling rig Hercules 185 back to West Africa in March.
