Deepwater rig for Petrobras gets construction finance support

MONTREAL – Cordiant Capital Inc. is supporting the construction of a deepwater drillship by the Schahin Group. The rig is destined to work offshore Brazil.

Cordiant is providing $15 million out of the total $864 million cost of the rig. It is being built by Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. in Korea. The rig will be able to work in 3,000 m (9,842 ft) of water with drilling depths to 12,000 m (39,370 ft) below the seabed.

It will be chartered to Petrobras under a 10-year agreement.
