CALGARY, Canada – The FPSO for Ithaca Energy’s Athena oil field development in the UK central North Sea is in the final phase of conversion at Dubai Dry Dock World.

Commissioning is under way and will be completed prior to the scheduled sail away from Dubai in mid-February. This should ensure that hook-up and offshore commissioning activity is kept to a minimum once the vessel arrives on location.

Engineering on the mooring design and associated power supply has led to the mooring system receiving certification for year-round operation in the UK North Sea. Commissioning of the vessel power turbine is also well advanced.

In other North Sea fields where Ithaca is either partner or operator, the Cook field recently incurred downtime due to partial failure of a subsea control module. However, this has been replaced and production fully restored.

The Beatrice field in the Outer Moray Firth of northeast Scotland also experienced downtime in December following electrical power outages caused by interruption of the shore-based supply, and a temporary failure of the produced water treatment system.
