Aker to supply riser package for Atwood drillship

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has contracted Aker Solutions for a deepwater CLIP drilling riser system for delivery to the DSME shipyard in South Korea.

PORT KLANG, Malaysia – Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has contracted Aker Solutions for a deepwater CLIP drilling riser system for delivery to the DSME shipyard in South Korea.

The 10,000-ft (3,048-m) water depth-rated equipment will be installed on Atwood Oceanics’ ultra-deepwater drillship Atwood Advantage. The contract value is around $48 million.

Aker Solutions will manufacture the riser system at its plant in Malaysia, with delivery scheduled for March 2014.

The delivery is related to the first of two options included in the drilling riser contract announced in July 2011.
