Rosneft gains blocks off eastern Russia

Rosneft has been awarded five blocks for geological surveying, exploration and development on the Sea of Okhotsk shelf off northeast Russia.

MOSCOW – Rosneft has been awarded five blocks for geological surveying, exploration and development on the Sea of Okhotsk shelf off northeast Russia.

The five blocks are Magadan 1, 2 and 3, Lisyansky, and Kashevarovsky.

Rosneft estimates total recoverable resources at more than 1.1 billion metric tons (1.21 billion tons) of liquid hydrocarbons and 2 tcm (70.6 tcf) of gas. This includes 850 MM metric tons (937 MM tons) of oil and 1.789 tcm (63 tcf) of gas spread throughout Magadan 1, 2 and 3.
