Hess contracts tender rig for Equatorial Guinea

HAMILTON, Bermuda – Hess Equatorial Guinea has issued a letter of award to Seadrill for use of the semi-tender rig West Esperanza.

The rig will be used to drill eight wells off Equatorial Guinea over a minimum 18-month period, with potential revenues to Seadrill of around $127 million plus mobilization fee.

West Esperanza is under construction at Keppel FELS yard in Singapore, and should be completed in spring 2013.

Following mobilization to Equatorial Guinea, the rig should start offshore operations around end-June 2013.
