ENSCO 8505 on schedule for delivery from Keppel FELS

SINGAPORE – Keppel FELS Ltd. reports it is on schedule for delivery of the ENSCO 8505 ultra-deepwater semisubmersible drilling rig to Ensco in 1Q 2012.

This is the sixth of seven ENSCO 500 Series rigs ordered by Ensco and is contracted to work in the Gulf of Mexico for Anadarko, Apache, and Noble Energy.

The rig is designed to address some of the most demanding offshore drilling requirements at water depths up to 8,500 ft (2,592 m). It features a 2 million pound quad derrick, offline pipe handling capability, 35,000 ft (10,668 m) drilling capacity and 8,000 metric tonnes (8,818 tons) of variable deck load.

Ensco has four additional rigs under construction at Keppel FELS. This includes ENSCO 8506, the final ultra-deepwater semisubmersible in the series with delivery expected in 2012, and three KFELS Super A Class jackup rigs with deliveries scheduled in 2013 and 2014.
