Chevron extends drilling success offshore Western Australia

SAN RAMON, California – Chevron Corp. has announced a natural gas discovery in the Exmouth Plateau of the Carnarvon basin offshore Western Australia.

“The find at Vos-1 represents our twelfth offshore discovery in Australia since mid-2009,” said George Kirkland, vice chairman, Chevron Corp.

The Vos-1 hit 453 ft (138 m) of net gas play in the WA-439-P permit 186 mi (300 km) offshore Exmouth. The well is in 4,869 ft (1,484 m) water depth and was drilled to TD of 12,461 ft (3,798 m).

Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration and Production Co. is the operator with 50%. Shell Development (Australia) Pty Ltd holds the remainder.
