LONDON – CGGVeritas has completed a six-day, 600-km (373-mi) 2D seismic survey for Northern Petroleum in the southern Adriatic Sea, covering the F.R39.NP and F.R40.NP license offshore Italy.

The M/V Princess performed the program, which is intended to obtain more complete and better-quality data to upgrade definition of prospects identified from previous seismic surveys. A 3D campaign is planned in 2012, pending approvals from relevant authorities.

In March, Northern signed an agreement with Azimuth for the two permits, which contain the Rovesti and Giove oil discoveries and 10 mapped prospects.

The partners aim to define and delineate appraisal and exploration drilling targets. Azimuth will take a 15% interest in both permits by funding a promoted share of future work program prior to the drilling phase.
