BILBAO, Spain – Vicinay Marine has acquired 100% of the share capital of chain maker Ramnäs Sweden Holding and its subsidiary Ramnäs Bruk.

The combined production capacity will be the largest for offshore chain worldwide, Vicinay Marine claims. Both companies will retain independent management, but the integration should lead to increased efficiency.

The combination will now be able to offer chains of all types of chain, diameters, and qualities. According to Vicinay Marine’s Javier Vicinay, “the combined capacity of 70,000 metric tons a year (77,161 tons/yr) will reduce delivery times and give greater production flexibility. On the other hand, the possibility of sharing know-how will improve productivity.”

Ramnäs Bruk, founded in 1590, develops, manufactures and sells chains and other products used for offshore mooring systems. Its headquarters and production plant is in Ramnäs, in Surahammar municipality in the county of Västmanland.

Vicinay Marine, based in Bilbao, northern Spain, has manufacturing facilities in Spain, Brazil and China, and a global sales network.
