CALGARY, Canada – Niko Resources reports it has spudded its first offshore well in Trinidad. The Rowan Gorilla III is on the Stalin prospect in block 2ab offshore Trinidad and Tobago’s eastern continental shelf.

The well, in 100 ft (30 m) water depth, targets a TD of 8,800 ft (2,582 m) to test an anticline feature made of multiple thrust sheets. Oligocene age Angostura sands are the target. The producing Angostura field is 23 mi (37 km) east of the location.
