Groen orders two newbuild seismic support vessels from Maaskant

Groen has ordered two newbuild seismic research and support vessels from Maaskant Shipyards.

GORINCHEM, the Netherlands – Groen has ordered two newbuild seismic research and support vessels from Maaskant Shipyards. These will be the first ever such vessels built by the shipyard. The vessel design was done in cooperation with Saltwater Engineering. The all-weather chase and support vessels will be 40 m (131 ft) long with a 9.3 m (30.5 ft) beam. Two Caterpillar units totaling 1,940 kW will power each vessel to a design speed of 14 knots. Delivery is scheduled for 1Q 2013.
